ScreenPlace Use Case

How to Always Open Mac Windows at the Same Size and Position

Edit window in the ScreenPlace app

When you open a new window on your Mac, it often appears in a different position or at a smaller size than you would prefer. For example, a new Safari window might open slightly offset from the last one, a new Reminders list window might appear smaller and near the bottom right corner instead of the center, and Xcode may sometimes open a specific file in an unexpectedly small window.

macOS tries to remember where your windows should be, but ScreenPlace can handle it for you automatically.

Save the Size and Position of the Window

Place a window where you want it and save its current size and position with a single click using ScreenPlace’s badge, or configure precise X, Y, width, and height values in ScreenPlace. You can also add all of your open windows at once.

Apply with the Badge

Once the size and position of the window are configured in ScreenPlace for your current display configuration, you can always use the badge to snap it back into place with a single click.

You can also use the badge to update the current size and position of the window in ScreenPlace after resizing or moving it manually, and the badge hides automatically when the size and position already match.

Apply Automatically

Just enable auto-apply in the settings of the app and when adding a new window, and ScreenPlace will take it from there - every new window you open will always have the right size and position.

Auto-apply requires ScreenPlace Ultra, which also comes with multi-display support, global shortcuts, reusable templates, and more - it’s a one-time purchase with no subscription.
